Yay: The music sets the mood and, rather strangely, reminds me of "Speed Racer" (which obviously came later....I assume this is from the early sixties, though I could be wrong).
Yay: It turns into a horse-racing game!
Nay?: I had a similar toy as a kid (circa 1996). Didn't last long.
Yay?: However, due to disagreements between the previous reviewers, I do not know for sure the built quality of product. For all I know, this could have been better made than the toy I had. I would be interested if the next reviewer could provide info on the quality of the product itself.
Yay?: Slow motion.
Yay: They mentioned "sold separately". They *said* it. Which raises this by one-star to a total of 5 stars out of 5 stars.

Short and effective ad for Gilbert slot car racers. Looked like it was a lot of fun for kids.

Wow! I am SO sold!
a REAL shocker of a fun car racing set is advertised here, with great (but clunky looking) cars, a switch track, a jump that I'm sure noone was ever successful in completing, and some amazing accessories. A crowd stand! A flag person! lap counters! Great GREAT fun! A total must see on this site!

An oath revived...
The year, 1962. The time, one of personal turmoil.
This toy stood head and shoulders above others. The allures of Jesus, Budda, any and all mystical figures of salvation, paled behind the heavenly promise of...
The Gilbert Slot Car Racer.
Far in my future lay the sweet muskiness of woman's forbidden area. Far, far, in the distance lay the inviting aroma of death. These cannot hope to compare with the sweet salvation of the Gilbert Slot Car Racer set.
Once in a lifetime does a cause make itself clear... once in a lifetime does a purpose manifest itself with astounding clarity....
The Gilbert Slot Car Racer set is that purpose. I have found one at a yard sale. I have moistened it with my seed.
We shall see what will arise, and what horrors it will bring.
